I can’t say enough how grateful I am to be back in the sanctuary space on Sunday mornings. We’re still missing a few things (like pipes and organs), but the new floor is fabulous and the sound is so much brighter and I am just in love, love, love with it. What an amazing and sacred space this community has provided!
I’m grateful for these amazing musicians who can pull together three, no FOUR, anthems with only a couple of practices between New Years Day and Martin Luther King Day. This was the sixth annual celebration that we participated in and I think it was the best yet.
Because the sanctuary is being remodeled for our upcoming organ installation, second service was moved into Bruner Hall and the choir had to sat in the corner. They sang beautifully (they always do), but their sound traveled only about 15 feet out and then was promptly sucked into oblivion. I could hear them, but the congregation couldn’t.
I’m grateful for a choir that can roll with the punches and sing anywhere, even in auditory deserts. Next week we’ll try a couple of well-placed microphones.
